Well.... I am sure like a few others, I was searching for something entirely
different about emirates and ended up here... and it has been quite an
interesting read so far... I come from the service industry as well.... so does
my husband and my sister and a dozen others from my family, working at
different corners of the world and in different service industries...
restaurants, hotels, airlines... I do empathize with the crew members, because
I do deal with a number of rude clients almost every single day... people of
different nationality... You can find rude people from every nationality and
not everyone who has logdged a complaint is an indian or paki... they are
spread all over... We own a chain of restaurants... I have a no of americans
who work for.... who are down right rude... But we are where we are today only
because of the basic hospitality that we learnt from our families and later
from our profession - I go to the client and apologise for sometimes no fault
of mine... its because every client is important... I have to agree with a
message posted by another visitor... Basics of Hospitality industry says -
Guests are always right... and there are no 2 ways about it... not with your
mighty talks... not even when you get low down to your racism.... it might just
trigger anger in relegious fanatics... but not with everyone... trust me...
Dont generalize... I haven't made a single complaint at any restaurant, any
hotel or with any airlines in a number of years... its not beacause its always
a great experience... I have lost baggages, my flights have been delayed and we
have been stranded in airports, once worse, because the bathroom was locked...
dont ask me why... Its only because I know the pain that you guys go
through.... in satisfying the needs of everyone... but thats who we are and our
profession demands that... if you cannot do that, you should look for a nice
white color jobs... and not everyone who migrates to another country does so
because they dont feel patriotic enough about their lands... I have been
travelling ever since I was a kid... and I have lived with people from every
walk of life... but thats because of my passion for travel and my passion to
know people and different traditions and cultures... and not because I cannot
afford decent living in my own land... I have had some wonderful experiences
with emirates, gulf, singapore, quantas... and many others... I fell sick
during one of my journeys.... and I was flying emirates... My co passenger was
nice enough to move to an unoccupied seat, though it was right next to the
toilet....and he was Indian, A french traveller got me inhalers and other cold
medicines to control my cough... and the middle eastern air hostess, came to me
atleast once every half hour to check my temparature, and to give me my
antibiotics... she woke me up a number of times inspite of my do not disturb
for meal sign... out of concern... because she didnt want me to sleep with just
medicines... she got me help at Dubai airport so that someone can take me to my
next flight... and even there steward was one of the nicest guys ever.... I
dont remember his natioanality... Sometimes experiences can go bad... real
bad... but as people from hospitality back ground... we need to do just that...
be hospitable and smile... you always meet that one nice customer... who makes
that difference... and to those ever complaining guests... just imagine
yourself in the shoes of the airhostess or a waiter in a restaurant... and just
remember... you are not the only guest they have to attend to!!!! and learn to
say "Please" and "Thank you" sometimes...

Dr Rana Jawad Asghar,

Please accept my greetings.
first of all I want to thank you for the site I really feel better after I read
others stories,

I lost my bag in Dubai Airport, my trip was on Emirates Airlines on
30/Apr/2005. It was about 03:00 am, and it was very crowd at the visa check
point. we wait for more than an hour to finish the checking. and when I went to
get my bag I didn't find it, I looked for it for more than 2 hours but for
nothing. I make a report.
checked many time with the office there while my visit, and when I got back to
Istanbul ( where I do Live at ), I stopped checking for a while waiting a
replay from the emirates airlines, but for nothing, I call the office here,
they checked with the office in Dubai and they told me that Emirates Airlines
is sending me a letter . after waiting for more than 15 days I got the letter.
they wrote :
OUR RECORDS SHOW THAT THE BAG THAT YOU HAVE REPORTED MISSING WAS LOADED ON
BOARD THE SAME FLIGHT AS YOU TRAVELLED ON, I.E ON EK 122 OF APRÝL, ÝN THE
BAGGAE CONTAINER NUMBER AKE10141EK. THIS IS SINGLE SECTOR FLIGHT AND ALL THE
BAGS FROM THIS CONTAINER WHERE OFFLOADED AT THE BAGGAGE CAROUSEL AT DUBAI
AIRPORT.
WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR REQUEST FOR COMPENSATION.

That is what I delivered after tow months. I called the office here and they
told me to contact the person who send me the letter directly.
Do you think contacting them is for vain, I feel bad and I do not know what to
write them. so I thought you may help me, because you have an experience with
Emirates Airlines, Please tell me what I have to write . because I am afraid
that my English is not professional that much.

So would you please help me, I know that I may take some of your precious time.
But I feel that you understand me because you felt the same feelings that I
hold now.

Best Regards

Majd Abaci ( Judy )

Hello,

This is to share the bad experience that we had flying from Muscat to Shanghai
via Dubai. We travelled from Muscat on 06/02/2005 (June 2nd 2005) to Shanghai
by Emirates and when we arrived in Shanghai we found that one of our had
luggage was broken and the handle missing, internal beading was damaged. We
reported to the Emirates office there and they were ready to give us a soft
luggage as compensation to the broken one. We did not want have a soft one
inplace of this Emminent hard luggage that we bought in Singapore. She gave a
damaged report and told us that we can go to Muscat and claim the damages. We
arrived after two weeks of travel to China and Japan and then went to the
Airport office to hand over the broken luggage. They said that they need the
reference number and since it is not available in the report thay will write to
get it from Shanghai. After three weeks of waiting finally they called us and
said we can come and collect the money. When we went there to collect the
compensation we found that they would give us 20 US $ that is equal to 20 Omani
Riyals. We said with that money we can not even buy a soft luggage and we dont
need your compensation and better replace with the same make. Now I am fighting
for it to get it replaced. Hope I will succeed in that. I will never ever
travel with them again if they treat like this.

EMIRATES - A REAL DISASTER

Dear jawad,

I appreciate your attempt to bring to light the
atrocities piled up by the emirates staff world wide.
The carry a very dirty attitude with themselves. It
can be either the power of money which they reflect to
the world or a born skill. The staff is so careless in
screwing up any ones travel and in-flight heed is
pathetic.

I was on my way to Auckland from Nairobi. On reaching
Dubai I was told that the flight to Bangkok is delayed
and I was denied a hotel accommodation saying that the
rules don’t specify so. I had to pay for the hotels
and courtesy to the airport taxi guy who agreed to
take me to the hotel along with others.

On reaching Sydney my connection flight to Auckland
was lost and I had to find my own ways to accommodate
despite the requests to the staff concerned.
My constant liaising with the Nairobi office also
didn’t serve my need.

It was a total mess and I opted to change my carrier
and routing on my way back.I have decided that I will
not fly emirates hereafter and I have shared my
ill-fate of flying emirates with all my known. How
ever, this I feel is a good move to lift the veil and
reveal the monsters of airline industry

My humble request to all those who fly is that even if
the whole world collapse ; please dont use emirates.,
because its TOTAL SHIT.

If there is any one from Emriates who is reading this
please dont hesitate from being ashamed of the place
you are working for.

It's funny you seem to targeting Indians and Pakistanis....
Quite possibly because them being smarter than you do end up taking all the
jobs in your home country...? As a result you have to become a stewardess
for another country¹s airline....

However, another thing you "I-am-superior-than-all-you-browns-skins" seem to
do is quickly marry a filthy rich Arab that you hardly know and have nothing
in common with.

At least when we do immigrate to other countries we don't forget our family
or our roots...

But thanks: life is more interesting because of people like
you.....although we could do without all that racist talk...
